How the Official API works

When a contact sends a message to your company, a 24-hour service window is opened (or renewed).

During this period, you can send as many messages as you want to that contact without any charge from Meta.

After this window closes, new messages can only be sent using templates (message templates) previously approved by Meta. As soon as the customer replies, a new 24-hour window is opened.

Template types

Utility

• Messages related to a process the customer is already involved in, such as confirmations, updates, billing, notices, and service information.

Marketing

• Any message that does not qualify as utility, normally used for promotions, campaigns, and offers.

Template costs

• Marketing: US$ 0.0625 per message
• Utility: US$ 0.0068 per message

Billing is done directly by Meta, which requires a credit card to be registered in the WhatsApp Business Platform account.

Coexistence with WhatsApp

The Official API can work in parallel with the WhatsApp app on your phone, through the coexistence feature.

This allows you to continue using normally:

• Groups
• Broadcast lists
• Status

Important: even with coexistence enabled, groups are not accessible through the API or Ticketz. Group management continues to be done only through the mobile app or WhatsApp Web.

Activation checklist

• Only for activation without coexistence: delete the WhatsApp account (uninstalling the app is not enough; the account must be deleted).
• Have access to the phone number to receive the activation code via SMS or call.
• Have access to the company administrator's Facebook to create the Business Portfolio (Meta Business).
• Have a credit card to register in the WhatsApp Business Platform account (used only for template billing).
• The company must have a website containing the Company Name and CNPJ on the home page (may be in the footer).
• In some cases, Meta may request the administrator's documents (driver's license or ID) with clear images for company validation.
